Your Abu Dhabi City Tour Itinerary — Stop by Stop

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Built between 1994 and 2007 at a cost of $545 million, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the UAE's largest and the world's third largest, capable of holding over 40,000 worshippers. The main prayer hall contains the world's largest hand-knotted carpet — 5,627 square metres, weighing 35 tonnes — and is lit by seven Swarovski crystal chandeliers, the centrepiece of which weighs 12 tonnes. Its exterior lighting shifts colour with the lunar cycle. Free abayas and headscarves are provided at the entrance for women. A modest dress is required for all visitors.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

An 8-kilometre waterfront promenade along the Arabian Gulf, where the Emirates Palace, Etihad Towers, and Qasr Al Watan all come into frame on the same stretch of road. Dedicated photo stops are included.

Emirates Palace

Opened in 2005 after three years of construction by a 20,000-strong workforce, Emirates Palace cost approximately $3 billion to build. The building spans over one kilometre and sits against 1.3 kilometres of private beachfront, with over 6,000 square metres of 22-carat gold leaf on its ceilings. The tour includes a drive along the grand approach road for exterior photos.

BAPS Hindu Mandir

Opened on 14 February 2024 and inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BAPS Hindu Mandir is the first traditional hand-carved stone temple in the Middle East. Standing 108 feet tall and built from Rajasthan pink sandstone and Italian marble, its seven spires represent the seven Emirates of the UAE. Over four million visitors from 100+ countries have visited since opening. A valid physical government-issued ID (passport or Emirates ID) is required for entry.

Yas Island & Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

The tour ends with a photo stop at Yas Island, home to Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World, and the Formula 1 Yas Marina Circuit. Guests who add the Abu Dhabi City Tour with Ferrari World option gain full park entry, including access to 40+ rides.

The Corniche is a popular spot for capturing beautiful memories and experiencing the best of Abu Dhabi's waterfront

How long does the Abu Dhabi city tour take?

The full day tour runs for approximately 8–10 hours including the return transfer from Dubai. Departures are typically from 8:00 AM, with returns to Dubai in the early evening. What do I actually get to go inside versus just drive past on an Abu Dhabi city tour?

On this tour, you go inside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on a full guided visit, not just exterior photo stops. The Islamic Art Gallery is also a walk-in visit on Monday departures. Emirates Palace, the Corniche, Qasr Al Watan, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island are scenic drive-throughs or short stops with photo opportunities. Interior entry to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Watan is available at your own cost if you wish to add it on the day.

What should women wear on an Abu Dhabi city tour from Dubai?

For the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, women must cover their hair, arms, and legs fully. Loose-fitting, opaque clothing is required — tight or sheer fabrics are not permitted even if they provide coverage. Free abayas and headscarves are available at the mosque entrance, so there's no need to pack your own. At the Islamic Art Gallery, modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is expected. For the remainder of the tour — the Corniche, Emirates Palace drive-through, and Yas Island — Abu Dhabi follows relaxed standards similar to any modern city, and regular tourist clothing is perfectly appropriate. The simplest approach is to wear or pack lightweight trousers and a top that covers your shoulders, which covers you across every stop on the itinerary.
